We are in the centre of the cycling Mecca of the Pyrenees, positioned on the lower slopes of the Col de Peyresourde.
From the top of the Peyresourde, there is the most incredible crèpe and coffee stop, then the road leads across to the Luchon valley to the east, where we have Porte de Balès, Hospice de France, Col du Portillon, Crête de Sarrouges, the infamous Superbagnères and more.
In our valley we have Col de Peyresourde, Col de Ris, Col d’Ilhan, Pont du Prat and the Col de Val Louron-Azet, all around the beautiful lake at Génos and ski town of Loudenvielle.
From the Col d’Azet you can drop into the next valley West and the beautiful ski town of Saint Lary Soulan. This is also only 15km along the valley roads. From Saint Lary you have the iconic Pla d’Adet leading to Col de Portet. The beautiful climb up to Lac de Cap-de-Long and several more smaller climbs.
Moving further down the valley towards us we have two climbs to Lançon which takes you back across to the hotel, or on the west of the valley the climb to Aulon, where there is a beautiful lunch stop. Then you have the Horquette d’Ancizan and iconic and stunning Col d’Aspin starting in Arreau located just 5km from the hotel.
From Arreau there are many quiet and unknown climbs in beautiful surroundings. Slightly further South is the Col de Beyrède, little known but unforgiving! From the summit of the Iconic Aspin to the West, this then takes you to Lac Payolle where the back of the Horquette and Beyrède also meets, making this a great location for multiple col routes. Again, many great choices for lunch and refreshments here. Dropping down from here to the west, we have the very famous Col du Tourmalet amongst many other climbs.
